In your body, the liver is responsible for the production of bile which is then transported to the gallbladder where it is stored. Why is ox bile included?
Ox bile is chemically similar to our own bile so it may supplement the liver's production of bile. It also supports the emulsification of fats and may subsequently improve the absorption of dietary fats and therefore fat-soluble nutrients including vitamins A, D, E and K. The ox bile concentrate in Gall Plus is derived from BSE-free herds who have been reared free of antibiotics and hormones.
Why do fats need to be emulsified in the body?
Most of the dietary fat you consume is in the form of triglycerides, which are composed of three fatty acids linked to glycerol. Dietary fats are large molecules which are poorly soluble in the watery environment of your digestive system. In order for your body to digest and absorb fatty substances, a breakdown process called emulsification must occur first. Bile, released from the gallbladder, is required to emulsify dietary fat. Once dietary fat is emulsified, the pancreatic enzyme lipase helps your body absorb the smaller fat particles.
